Thirds Match Report – Round 09
Report
It was a nice day for football, sun shining, cool, next to no breeze and we held up okay for about 10 minutes of the 1st Qtr: and then Woden got a run on and we struggled for the rest of the qtr. We tried a slide, but that seemed to have little effect as they just kept coming. Once again played some good football for the first 10 minutes of the 2nd Qtr, but simple turn over’s when we were attacking really hurt us and we did not stay accountable when Woden started running hard. So even though there were some glimpses that we could play, the moment we were put under pressure we chased the ball and forgot there is a lot more to football then getting a kick.
3rd and 4th Qtrs were very similar to the 2nd
qtr.
Summary
We had another 12 changes this week and when we ran out on the field we had 18 players, we got the team manager and two players recovering from injury to sit the bench just in case.
So that in its self makes it very hard to put a positive spin on the game before the ball has even been bounced.
Once again the commitment from the players could not be doubted, but the inability to have a stable team makes it very hard each week to develop the required combinations which become the foundation of a team.
With the possibility of up to an extra eight players being available after the bye we can only hope they remain injury free for the second half of the season and we can get some solid
team structures in place.
