Despite the BDAFL representative team only winning one of their 4 matches over the carnival at the State Championships in Wagga Wagga over the June long weekend, the Umpires Association is celebrating a great result for one of its members.
The highlight would have to be the appointment of Ashley Borg (pictured) to officiate as a Field Umpire in the Grand Final of the Carnival at Maher Oval.
“This result for Borgy and the Umpires Association reflects the hard work and professionalism within the umpiring group. This culture of hard work, self improvement and goal setting has developed over the last four years and hopefully will flow through to the junior umpires over the seasons ahead.” President Darrel Luck said.
“A lot of cynics like to detract from the current achievements that are being attained within the umpiring circles in our region and we believe that this result for Borgy should put to rest those detracting from the initiatives and pathways which have been put in place for our umpires by the NCCUA Committee in conjunction with all the Umpires Coaches in the region.”
The Association wishes to take this opportunity to congratulate Borgy on a great carnival, culminating in his appointment in the Grand Final and wishes him and all the other Umpires the very best as the second half of the BDAFL competition and Finals appointments approach.
