Congratulations to the Lions players who represented Sydney West in the recent Greater Sydney Juniors Championships held at Sydney Showground, Homebush, over the long weekend. In the Under 14's, Martin Pope played a pivotal role when Sydney West had a 1-1 record, whilst in the Under 13's, Jeremy Rix, Blake Langer, Pat Pope and Chris Nolan were all outstanding.
Mixed results also for the Under 14's Sydney West team in their two games at the Showgrounds, Homebush.
In their first bout, it was the Magpies who played superb team football to demolish Illawarra in a one-way affair.
After receiving a belting from Newcastle earlier in the season at the Black Diamond game, the Pies knew that they would be in for a torrid clash.
Despite a much improved performance this time, it was Newcastle's size, strength and slick ball skills that was the big difference in the final
result.
In the Under 13's A mixed performance as the Sydney West Magpies came up against a red-hot Illawarra side in game #1 (76-1).
A much better team performance saw the Magpies match Newcastle with a draw in their final game of the day.
