The Goannas wrapped up the 1st round of the competition with a convincing win over the Penrith Rams at Goanna park on Saturday. The Goannas dominated possession throughout the game but were pressured all day by the Rams, who make up for their lack of skill with physical pressure. We were off target early, kicking just 1 goal 5 in the opening term to trail the Rams' 2 goals 2. The second quarter saw us have 9 scoring shots to hit the lead and to go into half time break with the scores reading 5.10. 40 to 2.3.15. We adjusted the radar at half time and increased our lead in the second half to run away with the victory. Special thanks to the league who sent out superior umpires, who put their whistles away and let the game flow!
Final score Goannas 14.15.99 Rams 6.4.40.
