The Western Jets have moved to the top of the TAC Cup ladder with a 33 point victory over the Murray Bushrangers.
It was going to be a test for the Jets playing the top of the ladder Murray who are always a strong team. The Jets started well and after kicking 3 goals in 2 minutes midway through the first quarter shot out to a 3 goal lead. The Bushrangers then hit back late in the quarter with 2 goals in a minute to reduce the margin to 7 points at quarter time.
The Jets extended their lead in the second quarter and if it wasn’t for poor kicking (4.6 to 2.2) the margin at half time could have been greater than 23 points.
With Murray being the quality side they are it was inevitable they would come and in the third quarter they did. They moved the ball well and kicked 4.4 to 3.2 to cut the three quarter time gap to 15 points.
The final quarter have been the Jets strong points so far this season so it was imperative that they keep that record going against the competition leader. With Jayden Post again standing up when the pressure was on and Banner and Fitzpatrick dangerous up forward the Jets were able to run away to record a 33 point win.
The Jets now go into the competition bye sitting in outright 1st position; the first time since the mid 90’s that this has happened.
