SENIORS
Round 6 saw the Warriors travel to Bensons Lane. We were hoping for a lovely day, but instead the snow season started early. The day did not get off to a good start losing the toss with an estimated 5-6 goal breeze. The Jets centre line in the 1st quarter got off early and were able to capitalise on the score board.
The 2nd quarter saw our centre line step up and take control of the middle which allowed us to take control of the game. With some ordinary kicking, we only had a 12 point lead.
The 3rd quarter kicking into the breeze proved to be the premiership quarter with our centre line dominating allowing our forwards, Jimmy Moylan, to kick what turned out to be a match winning 4 goals 4 behinds.
Last quarter saw us settle in to finish the game. To the Jets credit, they really took the game up to us in the first half and we really had to fight for the 4 points. The Jets proving to be one of the better 1st quarter opponents we have had.
Pleasing aspects were Jimmy and Wazza coming up from the Magoos and really stepping up to the mark. Batesy led well from up front and Reece again controlled the middle. Our on-ballers (Croc, Inches, Camo) were all in the best and we look to them to start setting the platform moving forward with the new backline this week the Coaching staff were very pleased and should gel together in the coming weeks with the ever reliable Donnie back to lead the way.

Best on Ground – Inches, Camo, Reece, Croc, Whytey, Donnie
RESERVES
The travel to the windy city, Bensons lane, is always a windy ground and it lived up to its reputation once again.
We spoke before the game that we needed to feed the forwards and control the ball and over all I was pleased wit the way the guys stuck to the plan. Nor West played a harder style of footy than we are used to but our centre pairing and little men got to the feet and one more balls than lost.
One thing we must do better is capitalise on our inside fifty. The rate of inside did not reflect the score board and the gusty conditions did not help.
Pleasing aspect were the players brought into the game for injured players stepped up and made an impact.
We must win more of these sorts of games to finish the right end of the leader board and we will hit the paddock this week at training to work on a few finer points to maximise our opportunities.
Home game next week and should be back to full strength.

U18’s
Away to the undefeated UNSWES was a real test to see where we were at 6 rounds into the competition.
With the game starting at a fast pace, unforced errors were hurting us on the scoreboard but we still stuck at it. After a long break in the 2nd quarter when Ranga went down and an ambulance was called we went into half time down by 25 points.
Our work rate in the second half lifted and we started showing the style of football we could play as was evident in our 1%ers at 3/4 time. To the boys credit they stuck at it in the last quarter but were unable to pin back the lead eventually going down by 27 points. We now know what we are up against in the top team in the competition but I know we will learn plenty from this game.
A speedy recovery is wished for Ranga and we will keep you updated and let you know more as the information becomes available.
This Tuesday night we are training out at Westbrook with their U16’s so see you there for a 6.30pm start.
