LAST year’s TAC Cup premiers, the Caler Cannons, are not only winning over footy fans on the field, they’re doing it off the field, with the team organising a charity boot drive that sees them collect new and used football boots, runners and sports clothing and donate them to the Sacred Heart Mission.
The boys have so far collected more than 100 pairs of boots to donate to Sacred Heart’s Reclink Sporting program. Dylan Joyce, part of the Cannons leadership group, is more than happy to provide others with an opportunity to hit the footy field. “We usually throw the boots away after we’ve outgrown them and now we’re aware that there is a much better use for them than that. “Hopefully we can continue to help a charity in some way each year.”
