The Goannas broke through for their first win of the season in the seniors against Camden on Saturday with a convincing 17.13.115 to 9.14.68 final score.
Our goal was to kick at least 5 goals a quarter and we managed to do that for 3 of the 4 quarters. Our defence wasn't as good as it should have been, but our mid field and forwards dominated. Des Worrell played in his first senior game for the Goannas and cemented his position with a handy 7 goals.
Des was named our best along with Stuart McKinley, Ben Dyhrberg, Gerrad Kennedy, David hook and Trent Whalan.
Goal kickers were Desmond Worrell 7, Brett Harland 2, Trent Whalan 2, David Hook, Nathan Grainger, Jesse Haurua, Shaun Costello, Ricky McKerrow and Greg Adams.
The Reserves bounced back from thier heavy defeat last week to score a good win and a percentage boost with a 17.17.119 to 3.3.21 final score.
The only sour moment was a cheap shot on the inspirational Nathan (Rev) McLean who was hit well after he disposed of the ball and now will sit the season out with a shattered collarbone.
Best players were Shannon Altorjay, Michael Congrene, Lian O'Rourke, Mathew MacDonald, Brett Rizzo and John Mannion
Goal kickers were Mathew MacDonald 6, Nathan Peters 3, Jack Southurst, Nathan McLean, Liam O'Rourke, Michael Congrene, Tim Johns, Joel Scurr, Grant Nicholson, Greg Wellington and Troy Balzan!
