Award winning country music stars coming to Townsville for
free community event
Townsville is being invited to join Australia’s biggest country music talent Troy Cassar-Daley
and Dianna Corcoran, plus AFL legend Robert “Dipper” Dipierdomenico at The Strand in
Townsville on Saturday 17 May for a free community event as part of the NAB 150 Tour.
The NAB 150 Tour is a nationwide tour commemorating the bank’s 150th anniversary,
allowing NAB to give back to the communities that have been a part of the past 150 years.
Visiting over 110 regional towns and cities over eight months, Townsville is earmarked for
some particularly exciting activity.
The centre piece of the Townsville event will be the custom built NAB 150 Tour truck that will
turn into a mobile stage for performances by Troy Cassar-Daley and Dianna Corcoran from
1.30pm.
Dianna won 2008 Female Artist of the Year at the Golden Guitar Awards in January. The
talented country girl from Parkes in Central NSW released her second album Then There’s
Me in 2007. Troy also collected a prestigious award in Tamworth this year where he won
2008 Male Artist of the Year at the Golden Guitar Awards. This award is the 6th time he has
been honoured with this title making him the most awarded male artist in the history of the
Golden Guitars. The Golden Guitar was awarded to Troy for his #1 hit, Everything’s Going
to be Alright – a positive message song that has resonated with audiences across the
country.
The NAB 150 Tour truck itself is packed with interactive activity, including a heritage
exhibition with images and story boards of NAB’s history, PlayStation games, videos, an
internet kiosk for online banking, the 2008 Toyota AFL Premiership Season Cup and NAB
Cup.
Australian Football will also be celebrating 150 years. Football legend Robert “Dipper”
Dipierdomenico will appear at the Australian Football Experience between 1.00pm –
3.00pm. The Australian Football Experience is an opportunity for football fans of all ages to
learn about Australian Football history, meet their football heroes and participate in football
activities.
Fans can visit the Big Footy, a nine-metre purpose-built dome that contains a visual history of
the game, plus AFL game development officers will be on hand to guide children in interactive
activities such as the Big Kick and Handball Highlights. Along with these headline acts and
exciting performances, the NAB 150 Tour will also host a community BBQ and face painting.
