The Lismore Swans have started season 2008 in excellent form and are sitting at 3-0 after easily accounting for all 3 teams in the Northern Rivers.
The Swans started the season in terrific style slugging it out against Ballina in very wet conditions at Casino. The Swans put up a very strong display to defeat the Ballina Bombers for the first time in 3 seasons. A strong first quarter left the Bombers scoreless to up a 7.18-60 to 5.3-33 win.
Captain Simon Lovell was instrumental in the Swans win and was strongly supported by midfielders George Massa and Doug Perish. The Bombers were left chasing as the Swans played excellent team footy all day. The win was soured with injuries to Mitch Baum and George Massa.
Round 2 was also played at Casino with many first gamers taking the field against Nimbin. A very good display to go up 18-25=133 to 6-8=44. Wes Seewald kicked 5 goals while ruckman Jason Bevan kicked 4. Eddie Burton was electric in a best on ground performance while Doug Perish and Angus Legoe supported all day.
The Swans put up a tremendous performance against Byron leaving last years premiers stunned. The Swans stormed to an 11 goal to 3 first half lead in sensational fashion. The team lifted to the occasion and finished of the Magpies 15.17-107 to 9.4-58. Wesley Seewald kicked 4 while Jake Ryan and Ben Layton added 3. Mitch Grivins was best on ground while Lincoln Shinners, Phil Tsourlinis, Doug Perish, Ben Layton and Nathan Jones played well all day.

After a weeks break the Swans travel to Fripp Oval to take on the Ballina Bombers.
