The Mitcham Football Club and deeply saddened at the passing of Robert Bourne.
Bob passed away in the early hours of Friday moring at the Epworth Hospital Box Hill after a tough battle with cancer. Bob was an integral part of the Mitcham Football Club for so many years. Known mainly for his timekeeping duties Bob volunteered his time to the club from 1981 to 2007, it was only due to his health that he did not continue this year. Bob received the highest honour available being named a life member in 1995. In 120 years of football at the Mitcham Football Club, Bob will go down as one of the greats. His loyalty and passion for the club will never be questioned.
While Bob has already received the highest honour available, the club will be naming the new board room in his honour. The Robert "Bobby" Bourne Board Room will be unveeiled to the Mitcham players, members and supporters at our round 7 clash with Nunawading at a past players official luncheon. A plaque displaying Bobs history at the club will also be mounted on the day.
The club sends their deepest condolences to Val and her family through this tough time.
Details for Bobs funeral will be posted on the website when made available.
R.I.P Bobby.
