Redback Wrap
Wow, what a busy week that was. Functions Wednesday (Wine Tasting/Joel Quinn), Friday (VFL womens intra club match) Practice matches Saturday and our 2017 Season well and truly Launched on Sunday.
The boys had a great hit out on Saturday against South Belgrave. South Belgrave had some quality players, but it’s now becoming evident that we are now fielding a much stronger side across the team list. This enabled us to once again implement some of the plays Joff has been working on during preseason and we were on top all day. Reserves coach Steve Layt was happy with his crew and he now finds himself with plenty of players to ensure the twos have a strong chance each week.
Season Launch was a great day on Sunday – Ryan McLaughlin belted out acoustic classics all afternoon, ‘Hot Coals’ fed the crowd with their delicious Wood Fire Oven Pizzas, and the famous Player Auction was again a great hit hosted by Club Comedians Zac Williams and Joff Byron. This was a great day organised by two of young Committee members Scott Conte and Tait Forster.
Get behind these functions – they are being invented and re-invented to make sure they don’t become ‘typical’.
Anyway pre season functions are done – bring on Round One please!!
A good chance to get off to good start as we take on Watsonia in Round 1 (at Watsonia). Get along if you can to see the new look team take on the Watsonia Saints.
