The Vermont Vets started the season of with a good win yesterday. Kilsyth certainly gave it their best and hit us hard during the game. Our fitness and skills kept us in the game and gave us the points. The first qtr had us 4 goals to Nil as we played fast direct football. The second Kilsyth picked up their skills and managed 3 goals to our two and at half time we were three goals up. The third qtr was hard and tough Kilsyth throwing everything at us. We still managed to outscore them and lead at the final break. The last qtr we were outscored 4 goals to 2 as Kilsyth had the wind advantage in the last. Final scores were Kilsyth 8goals 9 points to Vermont 10goals 9 points giving us a 12 point well earned victory.
It was great to get back on the field after 10 weeks of training. Best players were John Verde, Brett Phillips, Peter Bolanis, Paul Douglas. Cameron Bain was out on the track again and looked like he was going to carve them up until a small injury hindered his ability to continue on 100%. All up it was a great team effort. Well done to all involved in setting the vets up. We are looking forward to our first home game in two weeks.
We desperately need a team manager and a couple of helpers on the day if anybody is available. I will be looking this next two weeks. Thanks to the guys who came down and gave a hand.
