Thank you everyone who supported our Wine Tasting Evening last night. It was a true Community event with a cross section of people attending that live in and around Panton Hill. Those who joined the Panton Hill Football Club function included members of local organisations i.e. Primary School , CFA, Cricket Club, St Mathews Church, Tennis Club, bringing along with them family and friends from outside the area. The magnificent food was supplied by local business and Major Sponsor, Panton Hill Hotel. You’ll see how amazing the Food arrangement was from the pictures soon to be uploaded. The Wines were supplied by our local wineries, Watsons Creek Wines, Kings of Kangaroo Ground and Nillumbik Estate.
After an update on the Football, Senior and Junior, and Netball from myself, we gained an insight into 2017 from our Senior Football Coach, Joffa Byron. Joff gave an account of the teams’ thorough preparation for 2017, and what lies ahead. In particular, he commented on the high quality of the new recruits that have joined our club, not only in terms of their playing ability, but their willingness to get involved and engaged with their new Club. He also highlighted the importance of our current group of local players who are now regularly pressing for Senior selection. All combining with our existing team lists, holding us in good stead for a solid and successful performance on field in 2017.
We thoroughly enjoyed listening to the entertaining historical stories, and the ‘where to from here’ accounts from local Winemakers Ken King and Tony Cahir.
For the next hour or so we listened to the superb voice of the young and talented vocalist and guitarist, Joel Quinn. We put a small claim on Joel being a ‘Hiller’, as he played some of his first gigs at the Club as a 14 year old, playing solo acoustic guitar with his great voice. Joel was joined by 5 other band members last night, with locals Mick Clear (Bass) and Craig Richards (Piano) featured.
And although it was a mid-week event, the night concluded at 9.00.
All said, it was a great event involving all sections of the Community that will now become an annual fixture on our Social Calender.
Many thanks to;
- St Matthews Church for hosting the function in their new community hall.
- Our three local winemaking families – Tregambes, Kings and the Cahirs.
- John Allan from Wildwood Restaurant for organising everything food and drink related.
- Panton Hill Hotel for a spectacular catering job
- Mick Clear, for putting together a great line up of musicians, headlined by Joel Quinn.
Thank you again from the Panton Hill Football Club to all those who came along and enjoyed the night.
Andrew Mill - President
