The Goannas were at home against last years premiers and both teams were out to get their first win of the season.
It was the Manly Wolves who got the scoreboard ticking by kicking the first goal of the game. The Goannas with the support from the "goanna gathering" replied with a hard earnt goal but it was Manly who took the lead going into the first break 4.6.30 to Goannas 2.3.15.
In the second quarter we lost our skipper Andrew Munns to a hamstring tear and although we had the majority of possession, the Wolves increased their lead to go into the main break with a 9.11.65 to Goannas 4.5.29 lead.
After the break the fired up Goannas started playing much better and our combinations were starting to work. Unfortunately our kicking in front of the big sticks let us down and we could only manage 3 goals 7 to Manly's 2 goals 2.
The final quarter came and once again we dominated possession and centre clearances but we couldn't claw back the half time lead.
