The Goannas played the UTS bats at home on Saturday thanks to the Woollahra council closing Trumper park late on Thursday.
First Grade got off to a good start after conceding the first goal by kicking the next 3. The Bats came back to take the lead and head into the first break with a 4.3.27 to 3.1.19 advantage.
The Bats had an increased advantage in the second with a strong wind picking up behind them. The Goannas conceded 3 goals 10 without bothering the scorers with most points the result of poor kick out options.
In the 3rd quarter we wasted a lot of opportunities to only kick 1 goal 4 with the wind as the Bats put on 2 goals 2.
The final term saw the bats run away with the win on the scoreboard, but the Goannas can hold their heads up high after battling hard all day.
Best players were Andrew Munns, Brett Harland, Gerrad Kennedy, Shaun Costello, Fernando Lobendahn and Jesse Haurua.
Goal kickers were Nathan Peters 2, Ricky Mckerrow and Shaun Costello.
Reserve Grade were brought back to earth after the win last week by getting beaten by the Premiers. Their ranks were depleted through injuries and unavailability's with the 1's taking 4 players.
Final score was Goannas 8.7.55 to Bats 15.21.111.
Best players were David Hook, Grant Webb, Grant Nicholson.
2nd Division fielded a full team with 3 reserves after many phone calls, but couldn't match their more experienced rivals.
The Goannas played well early but were run off their feet by the final siren. Final score Goannas 1.4.10 Bats 19.18.132.
