Round 3 saw North Brunswick's first appearance at Allard Park for the season hosting South Mornington. And the visitors brought some cold and blustery conditions up with them from down south with a strong breeze blowing down North Brunswick's end in the first quarter. Despite kicking into the breeze, Mornington got the jump on an inert looking North Brunswick bunch in the first 10 minutes, kicking the first 3 goals.
North Brunswick was soon to stymie the visitors' charge as Freeman marked on half forward, ran to the '50' and emphatically slammed home the 'Brad Teal Real Estate Gaol of the day'. This got the home team rolling and goals to Manoukian and Saad, as well as a second to the veteran, Freeman, saw North take back the ascendancy by 4 points by quarter time.
The second quarter saw a similar South Mornington start, however, there was no let up this time as the visitors ran in numbers and converted 8 goals to zero for the term - opening up a 49 point lead.
A half time rev up from Coach D'Angelo gave the North Brunswick group some focus and intensity as they responded with a three goal to one term. Pizzari and Harry Boyd were everywhere and the defence was rock solid with club stalwart, Darren Adams holding firm down back. Williams was beginning to get on top in the ruck also with assistance of Joe 'the Moose' Boudoloh who found some form in the third.
A three quarter time deficit of 36 points unfortunately blew out to 66 points by the final siren in what was a disappointing finish for the hosts.
We look forward to next weeks clash with Bulleen Cobras at Allard park...in what should be an exciting encounter and a must win for North Brunswick.
