DEAN DAVIES WINS 2005 BEST & FAIREST
Monday, 31 October 2005
On Saturday night at the North Shore FC Presentation Night, Dean Davies finished off his fine season by winning the 2005 Senior Best and Fairest award polling 97 votes, just 7 votes ahead of Marc Lord and 14 votes clear of Jarrod Crosby. Dean can now add the best and fairest to his list of achievements in 2005 that include the 2005 Phelan Medal, NAB Rising Star Award and his 2005 Premiership Medal.
At 20 years of age both Dean and Marc have enjoyed outstanding seasons for North Shore. Both played representative football in 2005 with Marc winning the Howarth Medal as the representative player of the year. Both have outstanding football careers to look forward to and through our relationship with the Essendon Football Club, will head down to Melbourne in November to undertake some pre-season training with Essendon.
In reserve grade, Gerard Phyland polled 69 votes to win by just 6 votes from Alastair Kerr and Alex Cowell who finished third. It was a fitting reward for Gerard who worked hard all year and set a fine example to the younger players.
In the Under 18's it was 2 votes that separated first from second with Chris Murphy taking the award polling 76 votes, just ahead of Dale Fitzgerald who polled 74 votes. Matt Eddy was third on 67 votes.
