MARK LIVY WINS B&F FOR THE SECOND TIME
Thursday, 18 December 2003
Mark Livy has once again won the Bombers Best and Fairest for the second time in four years. In perhaps the tightest title race in recent memory, Mark Livy polled 32 votes to just edge out 2002 winner, Jarrod Crosby with 31 votes.
Livy first won the award back in 2000 at the ripe old age of 21, and since that time has established himself as one of the premier players in the competition.
He didn’t have it all his own way this year however, as the final standings show. First year player, and winner of the Players Player award, Nick Hosking just fell short of the prize despite his Best on Ground performance in the final round. He finished 2 votes adrift with 30 votes.
1 vote further back was the Leagues Best and Fairest runner up, Simon Webb, fresh from a stint in the WAFL. He was followed by Co-coach Simon Wilson and new comer, Marc Bajcic on 24 Votes.
Paul Rowles, not surprisingly, capped off his stellar year with the Reserves Best and Fairest. This certainly put the icing on the cake after he coached the side to an un-defeated premiership with his maiden coaching performance and picked up the Sanders Medals for the Leagues Best and fairest.
He also kicked 105 goals for the year!
Steve Morrissey won the Under 18 Best and Fairest in a canter with a staggering 39 votes. He is one of many in that side who are showing real promise and will no doubt ensure that North Shore will continue to be a force in this competition.
