2017 Season Summary

3 x 2000w

2017 has seen an number of new improvements in and around the clubhouse largely due to our dedicated volunteers, loyal supporters and sponsors.

Grant funding from the Community Gambling Benefit Fund has also enabled us to install underground automatic irrigation for the field as well as urgent roofing repairs and a number of other general improvements.

In addition, the state government through the Department of Sport and Recreation has approved a major grant to assist us with a lighting upgrade which will commence in the comming months.

It was an arduous, tough season in terms of overall club results however the year was punctuated by some very proud and special moments.

Our Ladies Premier team once again proved themselves worthy champions in taking out the Intersport Ladies competition by defeating Edge Hill 1-nil .

Not to be outdone, our Premier Men’s team also won the Intersport Men’s competition with a gusty win over Edge Hill in the final.

Our Second Division team also picked up silver-wear by winning their divisional Premiership.

Overall as a club we were well represented in the final series by our Premier Ladies, Reserve Grade, Second Division and Youth B teams with our Premier Ladies team going on to defeat Innisfail 3-1 in a memorable Grand Final.

On an individual basis our congratulations go out to Cody Eszes who was recently selected to play in the Australian Schoolboys representative team to tour the UK in mid-January 2018. Also our own Stacey Jones was selected in the Australian Womens Footsal Team for the Footsal World Cup in Spain.

The 2016/2017off-season saw the completion of major roofing repairs and the installation of automatic irrigation/sprinklers.

With this season over we are about to commence work (in conjunction with Qld Sport and Recreation) on our new field lighting which will deliver trouble free NPL + quality lighting well into the future.

The Committee would like to thank all of our players, parents and coaches for their dedication and support during the course of the year. We look forward to seeing you all again next year.
