UNDER 12'S MATCH
The 3rd game of the season once again saw a much improved Lions team up against the Saints.
The first quarter got of to a terrific start with 2 goals, and saw the Lions leading into the 2nd quarter. In the 2nd quarter, the Saints scored 5 goals in quick succession to put the pressure back on the Lions.
To their credit the Lions dug deep and defended gallantly for the remainder of the game, and while they went down to the Saints are not far away from their maiden victory this season.
Once again on Saturday Braydon and Mitchell clocked up km after km up and down the field, and where never far away from the ball the whole game.
All the players contributed to the defensive effort on Saturday, led by Markus McDonagh who saved many goal opportunities. As did Tim Thomas who through the whole game threw everything at the Saints, but stopped a number of goal opportunities in the 1st quarter to give the Lions the early lead.
One of the highlights in attack, was Beau Dingemans long kicks which will certainly feature in the coming weeks.
Player of the Match Award was Mitchell Andrews
Goal Scorers
Samuel Batson 1, Joel Walsh 1, Braydon Saint-Barry.

UNDER 14'S MATCH REPORT
Under 14’s 26th April 2008
It was a perfect day for football on Saturday and the Lions took full advantage of the conditions to post their second win for the season. The Lions were a bit slow to start in the first 5 minutes but had built a reasonable lead by quarter time. They added to their total during the 2nd quarter to establish a sizeable lead against Hawkesbury Red.
Martin Pope was again instrumental in the Lions first half and showed off the skills he has learnt at training with several long left foot kicks into the forward line to put the Lions into attack. Mark Myhill again played a solid game for 4 quarters.
James Devlin was very busy at centre half forward and ended the day with 5 goals. Stephen Dixon, Blake Langer and Julian Borg played their first game for the season and threw themselves straight into the action. Chris Nolan played his 50th game for the club and was involved in everything in the first half making several dashing runs from full back in the last half, bouncing the ball all the way to the wing and delivering to half forward.
In the second half, Sam Devlin was thrown into the forward line and took several good marks after replacing his brother at centre half forward. David Looyschelder played an excellent game in the ruck all day and the smaller guys benefited from his work.
Jeremy Hardy played a solid game all day and managed to kick his first goal in AFL. Alex Wade continued his good form with a great running game all day. Another great effort from the Lions.

Alex Wade with Dino’s Pizza Award
Goal Scorers: James Devlin 5, Dan Kelly 2, Jeremy Hardy, Michael Kerr, Pat Pope, Jeremy Rix, Chris Broderick and Julian Borg all with 1 goal
