GSJ-SW Semi Finals (23 Aug 08)
A cold, windy and on occasion, wet day, set all Semi Finalist teams on a level playing field.
u10: Penrith Red 11-2-68 v Blue Mountains White 4-6-30 [Francis Park]
Despite a scoreless Swans 1st quarter, an inspiring 2nd 5-goal quarter of team football, saw the Swans cause an upset by powering over the top of the undefeated Minor Premiers. The final score went into the Club's record books as highest score by an Under 10 team in a semi final, eclipsing previous record set in 2006.
u12: Penrith 0-5-5 v Hawkesbury 6-13-49 [Francis Park]
Unfortunately with a few key players out and a few still suffering from recent spates of colds/flu, it was the Hawkesbury team that had the upper hand. The Swans were relatively flat for their standards, but no doubt they'll come back a better team next week at Greygums.
u14: Penrith Red v St Clair [Greenway Park] scores tba
The Reds were no match for the talented St Clair team with the Crows too slick and well disciplined. No doubt the Crows would like to hold this form as they tackle the big guns from Camden in next week's Preliminary Final at Greygums.
u16: Penrith 10-6-66 v Emu Plains 6-13-49 [Bensons Oval]
The Swans had a bit of a wake up call when the Lions took the lead at the end of the 2nd & 3rd quarters. A revitalised forward line in the final term had the Swans come home with a wet sail.
Many thanks to the Quakers Hill & Holsworthy clubs for their huge efforts in hosting these finals.
A reminder that we are still seeking volunteer help for next week's matches at Greygums. Please let us know if you can lend a hand.
