Thirds Match Report Round 1 - April 6
We were expecting a tough day at the office, as we knew
ANU had done an intensive preseason and we had only had four training sessions
in total and each one with different combinations of players. When ANU scored
their first goal in 20 seconds and we didn't even touch the ball, we knew it was
going to be a tough day at the office.
The 1st qtr we were under the pump from the
first bounce, and after about 10 minutes we managed to make a bit of a contest
and slow their scoring down. ANU kept up the pressure in the
2nd qtr and with continuous running and being very physical at the
contests, they continued to give us a lesson, as we failed to respond and our
accountability was very disappointing.
For the 3rd we came out and put on a good 15
minutes of football, kicked three goals, accountability was up and our tackling
was excellent, but with our limited preparation we run out of legs and ANU
rolled back into gear. For the last qtr the boys kept on trying,
but we had no petrol in the tank and ANU did not back off. The
scoreboard at the end looked very ugly for us, but once again I must compliment
the boys for not dropping their heads and having a crack.
