SENIORS
With a very young and inexperienced team, up against last years premiers, we were totally outclassed, especially in our midfield. Uni won 9 out of 10 clearances as we were without our No1 Ruckman- Jeremy Wilson (Injured) and backup ruckman - Adam Sutton (Sick). Young 17yr Old Carl Horsfall did a great job but was outclassed by Kupke( Uni Ruckman). Even so, we have to learn that to be competetive against teams this year with the retirement of a lot of our older Brigade, we must toughen up. We were to easily bumped out of the way in contests and learnt some valuable lessons. But still, its certainly not all Doom and Gloom, a great effort from some of our new players who were given opportunities that they might not have been given if we were full strength. With 6-8 senior players to come back into our team straight away and another 6 pushing for selection, we can only get better. Great game by defenders, Kenton Thompson, Beardsall and Alex Horsfall.. Lets work hard now to ensure this doesn't happen again. Ski

Playing a club first time round is always an unknown. I knew that the added strength of Xavier (3 years absence of footy), and his newcomer friend Warren, was definitely going to boost our midfield. To my surprise the addition was overwhelming for Dalby, and we dominated in every aspect of the match. The opposition had too few answers to our chargers, apart from Jacob Kelly who was the player who stood tall and ran ragged for Dalby. It was our talls in Xavier, Matt and Warren and midfield runners David, Daniel and Jesse that inflicted the damage. Daniel talked it up well in the centres, and David kicked six goals. Up to half time Ben was having a great game at full back and for his efforts was given a stint as Ruck. It was by far the best game I've seen him play. It was probably James' best game as well, and at one time he was put onto Kelly and did a good job on him. Contributions by Fritzy, Dillan and Reece were good and earned my respect. Even though it was a good win, there are a lot of aspects of the game we have to improve on, especially around stoppages where we need to be slicker, and in our ability to get the ball to our talls. If we were better in those areas I reckon we could have doubled the score.
Cheers

A great first hit out against Uni at Uni. I saw good signs for future games, and with the inclusion of Dale Carlish (captain) and Matt Joseph the team should prove unstoppable.
Although the score board showed a loss, the team won much, much more. Teamwork was the biggest standout in the game with countless handballs between players in attack, and plenty of shepparding and tackling around the stoppages.
This year the team is without its usual standout player in Hayden Smoothy, and with that in mind, every player stood up for the occassion.

I thought it was a very good contest today for the first game of the year. In the end the margin was only 20 points, and who knows, the game could have been a lot closer if we had our kicking boots on! The better players today I thought, were Sam Cooper, Ben Brunner, and new boy, Jack Tuddenham, in a great team effort.

Coolaroo Vs Uni
The Under 10's played against Uni for there first round game. The game started well, with Coolaroo getting most of the ball in the first half and using it to there advantage. The second half became more physical as Uni tried to get back in the game. Despite Uni being a physically bigger team, Coolaroo battled through and kept there score to a minimum. Coolaroo's use of the ball was outstanding and showed with numerous scoring shots. Well done to all the boys.
Cheers,
Paul and Charlie.

The under 8's played Uni today for their first game together. They did very well with everyone having a good time and getting involved. There were some very good kicks, marks and handballs. Congratulations to Zandah for getting Best on Ground, and also to Matt and Logan who received Coaches and Encouragement awards. Well done boys, see you all at training. Kyle and Dusty.
