The day started at 9:00 AM (Well, a lot earlier for our hardy group of volunteers) When the Auskickers under the guidance of Olli and Scott had a skills training session under glorious conditions which was followed by a game. Then it was the Under 10's having their match (with a few Auskickers joining the fray). The next match was Under 11's & 12's going head to head after they were presented with their jerseys for 2008. It was a good contest and despite the fact most players will be playing above their true age this year, are set for an enjoyable season. Special thanks to former Lions player, David Webb, for umpiring the two games played until this point.
The Under 14's squad then took to the field in a "Super 12's" clash under the watchful eye of coaches Geoff Payne and David Nolan along with Under 13's rep Coach, Rick Allen. They again impressed with their skills and teamwork and will be a force to be reckoned with this year.
The final match saw the Under 16's and Rams Under 18's have a run. Good luck to both sides this year in their long and arduous campaigns.
A special thanks again to our volunteers who spent the entire day at the ground. It is a big job to set up fields, check facilities, run the property shop, set up canteens, serve at canteens and do the massive cleanup and dismantle the ground at the end of the day. The committee is working on a roster for all teams to participate in which will require parents time for a short time before and after the players take the field. Of course this will allow the parents to watch their childrens match.. Please volunteer your time, just see your team manager or any of the committee people wearing the blue shirts.
Round One is scheduled to commence on Saturday April 5. The 2008 draw is imminent and will be available on the website early in the week. Dukes Oval has been tentatively selected as the venue for Round 1 for all games. This, however, will be confirmed on training night.
