An impressive Port Melbourne defeated the Northern Bullants in an impressive 51 point win over the Northern Bullants at MC Labour Park on Saturday.
It was a tight first term between the two sides, but the Borough managed to keep a slender 3 point lead at the first break.
The second term was just as even as the first as 4 goals were kicked between the two sides, as the Borough took a 3 point lead going into the main break.
But a 9 goal blitz in the third quarter by the Borough burst the game open to take a handy 35 point advantage into 3/4 time.
Despite a spirited fight back from the Bullants, the Borough slammed on 5 goals to hang onto the 51 point win, winning 18.9 (117) to 9.12 (66).
Standouts for the Borough included big man Adrian Bonaddio (4 goals), running utility Luke Cotchett (4 goals), Robin Nahas (1 goal), Tony Pinwill, Cory McGrath and ruckman David Fanning.
While for the Bullants, Carlton listed players Darren Pfeiffer, David Ellard, Dennis Armfield, Simon Wiggins and Jason Saddington were very productive while Luke Morgan and playing-coach David Teague were also very good.
The Borough also had a victory in the reserves, defeating the Bullants in a illustrious 41 point win at MC Labour Park prior to the seniors.
It was a free flowing but tight contest for the first three quarters until a 4 goal to 1 last term by the Borough, to set up the 16.10 (106) to 9.11 (65) win.
