New Coach for Zebras Senior Men

Brunswick Zebras FC is pleased to announce the appointment of Daniel Roca as the Senior Men's coach for season 2017.

After 9 years service, Daniel is a favourite son of the club. Interestingly Daniel spent his junior years at Keilor Park FC and it was only after playing for Moreland Wolves against his younger brother Mark Roca who was playing for Zebras that he realised his future was in Zebras stripes and he came over as a very valuable player. Once a mid-fielder, smarts replaced speed and Daniel became a central striker.

Daniel is excited by the possibilities of the upcoming season. His goal for the team is to be challenging for promotion to State League 3 and he believes he has the base of a young team capable of achieving that goal.

"I am rapt to be in this role.  I know the club and the people.  I want a team that is fitter, faster and more aggressive than the opposition," Daniel said. He also said he sees a real home ground advantage at Sumner Park, with Zebras knowing how to play its small size well.

Daniel is also very pleased at the high proportion of home-grown players in the squad saying that is the way to a sustainable future for the club.

Daniel is a Melbourne Victory supporter (appropriately as Zebras is a Club Victory affiliate) and also follows AC Milan in Serie A (wrong stripes, Daniel).

Outside of football Daniel is an architect who works for one of Australia’s largest construction companies Grocon and he is particularly proud of his most recent project: the hi-tech Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (the new Peter Macullum hospital) on Royal Parade in Parkville.

Senior men’s training has commenced in January, initially at Clifton Park in Victoria St Brunswick at 6:45 pm on Thursday 19 January and Tuesday 24 January.  Daniel has kindly allowed the boys to have Australia Day off.  Training will resume on a regular basis on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Balfe Park East Brunswick at 6:45 pm.

As well as fielding a senior and reserves team in State League 4 Brunswick Zebras has a team in the Sunday Metropolitan League which plays on Sundays.
