Former Burger and current Richmond star Jake King is returning to ABD Group Stadium Coburg to help be a part of the Club's new training program Coburg Footy Fit.
Footy Fit will be a fantastic way for anyone to get fit in a Fun and Footy style environment.
The program has been specially designed for people of all ages and it is a great way to get fit in a program based on the same principals of training that the top line AFL player's use.
Specifically Footy Fit has been developed from the core strength and conditioning programs used by professional football teams around the country. Footy Fit
delivers a fun, motivating and challenging outdoor training program designed to forge a broad based, general and inclusive fitness.
The program consists of 12 x 1 hour sessions run over a 4 week period.
Today's Football for players like Jake & most of the modern day stars requires a balance of all the major physical skills including cardiovascular endurance, strength, speed, power, stamina, agility, flexibility and balance. You can expect improvements in all these areas along with a loss of body fat & an increase in muscle tone.
The footy fitness program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect program for any committed person regardless of their fitness of experience.
On the first day we conduct a fitness assessment and based on the results trainees are placed in teams of similar fitness levels. The loads and intensity are then scaled accordingly.
A normal session will include:
Warm up
- mobility based exercises to prepare the body for the session ahead.
Strength training
- constantly varied functional exercises with a strong focus on correct technique.
Conditioning
- Individual and team based running, stairs and hill runs.
Skill work
- basic footy skills taught by Richmond / Coburg listed players.
Cool down
- stretching and low intensity exercise.
Coaches for sessions will be a mix of qualified strength and conditioning coaches and Richmond
players such as Jake, Coburg Coach Jade Rawlings & Coburg VFL listed players.
All have the appropriate fitness industry qualifications and experience.
The costs per four week block are $240ex and $220ex for returning participants.
All new participants that sign up will receive a Coburg Footy Fit t-shirt to train in & each full program will conclude with a session and light breakfast at Richmond's Punt Road Oval hosted by Richmond & Coburg Football Director Greg Miller.
Sessions will start Monday 31st March, 2008. Sessions times are 6.00am - 7.00am sharp at ABD Group Stadium Coburg (Formerly Coburg City Oval) on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning.
