Professionalism has been the key to the Werribee Tigers' pre-season. The team recently had an education day at Victoria University's Footscray campus which included watching anti-drug and alcohol and sexual abuse videos.
Experienced midfielder Dominic Gleeson said it was beneficial. "I think with the way football's going, it was important to be involved in a day like this. It was a good learning experience particularly for all of the younger guys."
The one-day education program is seen as a replacement for the
traditional pre-season camp. The Tigers have employed weights coach Bill Setiu, boxing and kickboxing coach Joanne Muraca and Leone Shaw as the team's nutritionist.
On the field, the club has introduced 20 new players who are aged 21 and under, signifying an emergence of youth at Bartercard Oval.
The club's first official practice match will be against Geelong on Saturday at Skilled Stadium.
