The talk was of "The Club".
Neil Christie announced that the Juniors would be fielding 2 x Under 8s; U/9; U/10; U/11; U/12; 2 x U/14s and 2 x U/16s. They have signed 110 players and are looking to 220 before season commences. Committee and coaches are in place and signs are very positive.
Roachy summarised 2007 which saw mixed results amidst a rebuild of the team. Four Catters made Qld sides and one was selected at All Australian level. Thirty eight played at senior level with a high participation rate of U/18s in the Magoos. Off the field in preparation for 2008, the Club has moved to cement our place at the elite level in appointing Shaun Hart as coach for 2 years; extensively renovated the senior change rooms and gym (thanks to all particularly Dale Perkins who continues to work tirelessly and Spackers for paint work during his holidays); is moving to create clubroom space through the addition of visitors change rooms; and will upgrade the BBQ and parking areas.
The senior playing group is looking to maintain around 45 quality persons/players - the coach has indicated a leadership group of three will be appointed. First practice match will be a full hitout against the Southport (Kangaroos?) 1 March, followed by Zillmere 8 March and Redlands 15 March. We understand there is to be a night practice match around Easter at Surfers - check at the club. First home and away game is a 6.00pm start at Zillmere
