The Melton Bloods would like to welcome Tom Button to the senior club.
The Button name is well known around the Melton Football Club, with Tom’s father Andrew a dual premiership player with the club (2001 and 2005), and Captain of our 2005 Premiership side.
Tom began his playing career with the Melton Bloods Juniors before a move to the Central Highlands League. He transitioned from junior football to senior football during four seasons with Daylesford, before an invite to join Werribee VFL earlier this year gave Tom the opportunity to train at VFL level and play in the Development league. He is currently at Werribee for his second VFL pre-season, already reaping the benefits of the experience he’s gained over the past 12 months.
Football Operations Manager Brad Jamison is pleased that Tom chose to return to the Bloods and noted that Tom adds to a growing list of players to come through the Club’s Junior ranks and follow in the footsteps of family members that have played at the club. “Bringing players back to the club who were juniors is even more important now than ever before with the introduction of the player points system. Whether we see much of Tom really depends on his Werribee commitments, but we’ve always encouraged our players to spend time at the higher level if that’s what they want to do. Tom’s clearly driven to be the best he can be with his football, he’s got an excellent attitude towards his footy. We’re rapt that he’s chosen to align himself with the Melton Bloods once again”.
Please make Tom welcome to the Club and let’s hope that he can follow in his dad’s footsteps and be a part of the Bloods next period of success.
