FNQ FC Heat take pride in ensuring our coaches have the highest possible education in youth development, and endeavour to align our delivery of sessions to that of the FFA’s National vision and philosophy. This week, Heat Coach Greg Carey attended the FFA Advanced ‘C’ Licence course held in Cairns. The 9-day course was run under the expert guidance of State Technical Director David Abela and State SAP Co-ordinator Dean Simpkin.

 

David Abela commented, “This is the third year the C Licence has been held in Cairns to increase the number of Advanced Coach accreditation in regional areas. The course has been well supported by coaches from Regional Qld, but also by coaches from overseas and interstate as far as Western Australia.

 

It is important to continue providing this opportunity to raise the standard of coaching in Queensland, as this is part of the two spear heads to improve ongoing player development in Australia, this being Youth Development and Coach Education.

 

The mentoring of coaches after attending the course is crucial for their ongoing education and development, and it is good to see that Craig Midgley, FNQ Heat Technical Director, who is an FFA Advanced Course Coach Developer, is in FNQ to be of assistance to these coaches, as having appropriately accredited coaches is crucial in programs to provide the players the opportunity to reach their potential.”

 

Greg Carey spoke positively about the course, commenting, "While challenging, the knowledge and experience gained over these last 9 days will be of enormous benefit, and I look forward to putting it all into practice on the field with the kids! It was great having David and Dean on hand to answer all of our questions".

 

With all Heat Coaches working towards having Advanced Coaching qualifications and being mentored by our Technical Director Craig Midgley, they will be able to provide players an environment that will deliver the FFA National Curriculum and training content that all NPL clubs adhere to.
