After a run of 4 consecutive defeats the Kenmore Seniors have returned to the winners circle with a strong display against last year's grand finalists, Wynnum.
Starting with the aid of a strong breeze the Bears failed to capitalise on their early dominance and went in the quarter time break only 10 points ahead, even though they had twice the number of scoring shots.
The second quarter was a torrid affair with both sides squandering goal scoring opportunities and neither side willing to put the other away. Strong defensive work all round the ground against the breeze set-up an enthralling last half.
Two early goals at the start of the third quarter to Wynnum had the Bears on the back foot and looking down and out. However, unwilling to let their best chance at victory since round 1 get away they regrouped and managed to go into the third term break 16 points ahead.
With the use of the breeze in the final quarter Wynnum were always going to finish strongly and clawed their way back to within 1 goal early in the last. A superb last quarter performance from the entire side stopped Wynnum in their tracks and enabled the struggling Bears to post their second win of the year.
The return of key personnel for this weekend's clash against Alex Hills has everyone down at the club confident of back-to-back victories for the first time this season.
