There is a real sense of excitement around Chirnside Park as the Werribee Football Club enters season 2005. New coach Simon Atkins and his assistants Dallas Normington, Nigel Kellett and Stephen Kretiuk have the players extremely fit and ready to go.
We have recruited a number of new young players to compliment our already strong list, many of the names may not be familiar to our supporters but I can assure you that there is some real quality and depth amongst them.
The Bulldogs list appears to be better than ever and this will further improve our stocks, Rodney Eade has made it very clear to his players that he expects nothing less than 100% effort when they represent Werribee. I must add that the alliance with the Bulldogs has never been stronger both from a football and administrative perspective.
Off the field, we are making headway on our financial goals with a substantial profit being reported for the 2004 year. There is still a long way to go and we need the continued support of all our followers to become financially sound. So please do whatever you can to attend our matches and functions throughout this coming year.
Mark Penaluna (General Manager) and newly appointed Operations Manager, Matt Wynd have worked tirelessly to maintain and improve the level of sponsorship and I am pleased to say that 2005 should see us surpass all recent figures in this regard. On the matter of sponsorship it is a great pleasure to confirm that Ballan Holden has once again agreed to be our major sponsor for 2005. Thank you, Tino, Robyn and family for your continued support. I urge all Werribee Supporters to consider Ballan Holden and all of our other sponsors when you are seeking to buy any goods or services.
I would also like to remind you all of the great patronage we receiver from our joint number one ticket holders in Russell Mark and Merv Hughes, but are willing to help the club whenever they are able. Thank you also to our local federal member and shadow Minister for Health Julia Gillard who has agreed to be our Patron again in season 2005.
I would like to formally congratulate Cr Peter Ross on his appointment as Mayor of the City of Wyndham, Peter has been a great supporter of the club over many years and I look forward to working with him and the council to further strengthen our community involvement.
To all our Sponsors and followers (including all you Bulldog supporters) I thank you for your support thus far, I trust that you will continue to enjoy your involvement with the Werribee Football Club. Be assured that we will be pulling out all stops in 2005 to achieve that ultimate success.
Greg Welsh
President.
