A member of the past two Sandringham premierships, Oke quickly became a crowd favourite not only through his high ball winning ability on the field, but his friendly and approachable manner off the field.
In his two years with the Zebras Oke never missed a game and his consistency was a feature of each of those games. In his first year not only did he secure a premiership, Oke was also awarded the most determined and came 5th in the Neil Bencraft Best and Fairest. This season was even better. After being awarded one of the vice captaincy roles at the Zebras and earning a state gurnsey, Oke continued his sparkling form in the midfield and ran away with the 2005 Best and Fairest. His form was important for the Zebras in the finals as he was twice awarded best on ground by the ABC Commentary team and took out our Best in Finals series.
Sean will be missed around the club and all at Sandy wish him good luck with his endeavours and hope he can continue to have as much success in football that he has had here at Sandy. We look forward to again watching Sean run around Trevor Barker Beach Oval upon the completion of his apprenticeship. Sturt appears the most likely club to acquire his services for 2006.
