At the conclusion of the 2007 AFL NAB U/18 National Championships the Northern Knights had three players named to the All Australian side. The club are very proud of this accomplishment particularly considering there were only four Vic Metro players named AA. The Knights players named in the side were Jack Grimes, Michael Hurley and Matt Kreuzer.
Grimes captained the side and played most of the tournament off the half back line, where he created a lot of drive for the team. He was named in the best players for Vic Metro in the games against South Australia and Vic Country.
The great form of Hurley would come as no surprise to those who have seen a lot of him this season and this carnival certainly will have given him wider exposure. Hurley was a rock at full back and was named in the best players for Vic Metro in all three games, including a couple of stand out games against WA and Vic Country.
Kreuzer was Vice Captain for Vic Metro and this carnival only bolstered his already stellar reputation. He was also named in the best players for Vic Metro in all three games, with his stand out game being the loss to WA where he continued to work hard all day despite the lopsided scoreline. In an additional bonus for Kreuzer he was named as MVP for the Vic Metro side.
Congratulations to these three boys for their All Australian selection and we look forward to welcoming all Vic Metro representitives back at the Knights next week.
