The North Ballarat Rebels remain undefeated in the TAC Cup competition after thrashing Gippsland Power on Anzac Day. The Rebels led from start to finish to win comprehensively by 109 points.
Kicking against a slight breeze in the first quarter, the Rebels struggled for accuracy, 1 goal and 7 behinds to 3 behinds was a poor result considering the amount of possessions the Rebels had.
The second quarter proved a different story as North Ballarat asserted their ascendency on the scoreboard with a 7 goal to 3 quarter.
Perhaps the most pleasing aspect of the team's first half was the constant pressure applied to the Gippsland side, forcing many turnovers and creating numerous opportunities.
The second half from the Rebels was outstanding as they piled on 12 goals to the Power's 7 behinds.
Playing in his first game for the season was Dean Chester who led the goal scorers with 6. Chester has struggled to overcome patella tendonitis in the pre-season and will only improve.
Beaufort rover, Mick Foster, was best a field as he racked up countless possessions and constantly won the hard ball.
Other good players included Captain Jed Adcock playing off half back, utility Josh Thurgood and winger Corey Fagg.
The 109 point margin was the Rebels biggest win in recent history.
The team will travel to Skilled Stadium next Sunday to take on the Geelong Falcons in a curtain raiser to the Geelong v Brisbane game.
