The NAB AFL Under 16 National Championships begin on Sunday the 29th of July when Victoria Country play South Australia in Coorparoo, Queensland. In this squad of 25 heading up to Queensland to represent Vic Country, are six North Ballarat Rebels Under 16 players.
The six players are:
-Andrew Hooper (Golden Point): a small man, who never stops working and can play anywhere.
-Ben Peters (Ballarat Swans) who is a big man that can run all day and is very versatile.
-Chris Curran (Horsham Demons) Exciting versatile player who has ability to go further.
-Chris Gaimpaolo (Horsham Demons) in and under small who finds the ball.
-Dylan Parish (Horsham Demons) Leading forward who has strong hands and kicks the ball well.
-Pat Knott (Horsham Saints) Tough midfielder who give his best each game.
These players have all gained selection after impressive matches for the Under 16 Rebels Development Squad in the Victorian Under 16 Championships and also in the trial games for Vic Country over the past couple of months. These players have undergone rigorous training and have had to compete with the best in the state for their chance to wear the Big V.
They have succeeded in obtaining their place in the team, and now are preparing for their three matches in Queensland against South Australia (29th July) in Coorparoo, against Vic Metro or Western Australia (Wednesday 1st August) in Southport, and finally against Vic Metro or Western Australia (Saturday 4th August) in Coorparoo.
We congratulate them on their success in gaining selection into the squad and wish them all the best for their Championship matches.
