We wish to inform our players, members, officials and supporters that Dick Baker has advised the club he will not be continuing in the role of Senior Coach in 2017 due to other commitments. Whilst we are disappointed to be losing Bakes as a coach we respect his decision and all he has done for the club.
Bakes has been part of the coaching group for the past 4 seasons, the last 2 as Senior Coach, and has brought an enthusiasm and passion for the club and the game that is second to none. He has taken an interest in all players, regardless of which team they play in, has developed and nurtured the talented group of players at our club and been willing to give players a chance to prove themselves.
True to the character of Bakes, whilst not being able to continue as Senior Coach he has already put forward ideas and suggestions for things he would like to be involved in to help our club in 2017 and beyond.
We look forward to being able to formally acknowledge and thank Bakes at our upcoming Presentation Night on 29 September for his great contribution to our Club.

Message from Dick Baker
I have loved every minute of my time coaching the Friars these past 4 years, firstly as an assistant coach with the U/19’s for a couple of years and then as Senior Coach for the past two years. The current playing group are an unbelievably great and tight-knit bunch of blokes and very talented footballers as well. They are on the verge of creating something very special and I am going to enjoy watching them fulfil their potential and hopefully achieve the ultimate team success.
I’d like to thank Dean Thorn (Senior Assistant Coach) for his invaluable coaching support that he has provided me these past two years. I’d also like to thank all of the other coaches - Jeremy Freeman (2013 U/19’s Premiership coach), Dave Kelsey, Ben Bucello, Pete Harrison, Tony Pisani and Santo Raso for their help and support during this period as well.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank Norm Elliott, Peter Ciardulli and the committee for putting their faith in me and giving me the huge honour to coach the senior group. The support that they have all provided to me during this time has been fantastic and I am in your debt.
I wish the club every success in 2017 and beyond.
Cheers & Go Friars!
Dick Baker
