The Saints President Gerry Taveira addressed the crowd at the Royal Club Hotel and was full of praise for the outstanding year which was achieved by the team, the coaching staff and the hard working committee. There was only one change to the hard working committee. Re-elected for the 2008 season was Gerry Taveira club President, Darren Bailey Vice-president, and Marion Benfield as Secretary. Irene Dasey was elected to the role of Treasurer. The committee will be Pete Diskon (Publicity Officer) as well as Dick Gleeson, Darrell Benfield (Game-day Manager) Matt Harrison and Scott Wilson. The club has announced that Jason Gobbert will continue as club captain in 2008.
In line with the club's commitment to fostering AFL in our region, it will introduce the AFL AUSkick program next season. AUSkick is regarded as one of the most successful junior development programs in Australia. AFL Northern NSW area manager, Shane McAloon, has welcomed the announcement and has congratulated the Saints on its decision and its outstanding year in the Tamworth AFL. The club has appointed Tim Ellis as its AUSkick co-coordinator with Scott Wilson in an AUSkick coaching role. The club will announce more details on this junior AFL commitment after its next general committee meeting in January.
