Nble Park certainly gave us a very tough game indeed, as they had in round 10. They charged away in the first quarter and really could have been further than 19 points up at quarter time. We just couldn’t get the footy and it looked like a repeat of the Balwyn game last week. To our credit the players really put in an extra effort in second term to change the trend and get back on even terms. Joel Perry went into the ruck to counter the height advantage they had there and on ball players like Kyle Emley really attacked the ball hard. Not having Tommy Schneider made life around the ruck through ups much more difficult. Sammy Wadley was one of clear winners giving great drive a longer kicking from the wing.
Noble Park maintained their lead which varied from two goals out to four during the third quarter. Although we were doing much better, they quickly responded pretty well every time we scored. This pattern went in to the final quarter and a win was not looking good, but like at Rowville, this group does not give up easily and some great goals from Jake Best, Joel Perry and the Captain Timmy Johnson got us in front with just a couple of minutes to go. Cam Howat was everywhere and his coolness and long kicking was significant as was two last quarter huge pack marks by Ryan Phillips. Then we had to hang on. And we did.
