Hello everyone
Welcome to this week’s fixtures list.
We have an absolute thriller on our hands this week at the “G”, Graham Road that is.
Game is Saturday 12 Noon at Graham Road. NEAFL play the Giants, the UWS Giants from Sydney in what should be a close contest.
Since the inception of the NEAFL this is the first time the GIANTS have played at Aspley.
Aspley sit second on the ladder and the GIANTS are fifth however am sure it will be very tough contested tussle from the outset.
It is the Indigenous Round and Aspley will be wearing their indigenous jumpers that have been designed by artist Robin Conlon “Goma”.
The Aspley Jumper depicts the meaning of “people coming together and standing as one in battle in victory in celebration”.
In all it should be a very interesting battle with Aspley endeavouring to use the home ground advantage and send the GIANTS a message.
One of our Under 11 teams will play the curtain raiser commencing at 10.00 am - Under 11 Gold will play Under 11 Redcliffe Gold which should be a huge thrill for the youngsters.
Also during half time in the big NEAFL game some of our Under 8s will play an exhibition game which will be umpired by our first female Club Umpire Jacinta Fitzgerald.
Following immediately after the NEAFL game at 3.00 pm we have our undefeated Women’s team playing Jindalee. Let me assure you the ladies play some very good football.
Our QFA teams, Seniors (2.00pm) and Reserves (11.45 am) along with the Colts (9.30 am) team travel to Noosa this weekend.
Last week at Graham Road the Seniors were ahead by one point at ¾ time but came home with a very convincing victory by kicking six goals to the opposition’s one in the last quarter.
Our QFA will now be looking to continue their good form as they strive for that elusive top 4 finish.
The Reserves also had a victory against Caloundra last week. So we hope this week the trip to Noosa is worthwhile and the teams return successful.
Our Masters teams also have some tough competion this round playing Souths at Kenmore on Saturday night, the 45s at 4.00pm and the 35s at 6.00pm.
Friday night we have 2 youth games at Graham Road . Our Under 12 Division 2 team at 6.30 pm against Sandgate and our Under 17s play the Moreton Bay Lions at 8.00 pm.
Sunday at Graham Road we have Under 14 playing Sandgate at 9.00 am followed by our Under 15 Girls team at 10.30 am.
These Under 15 girls are imporoving week by week and last week went down to Jindalee in a very competitive game by 14 points to Jindalee.
We wish all our U15 Representative players, 11 of them success as they play in their schoolboy representative games this weekend.
Wherever you go, whoever you support in our Club we hope you all have a very successful and happy weekend.
Go Hornets!!!!!
