Gippsland FC enjoyed a solid weekend of soccer across the grades with two wins, a draw and a loss in their respective metropolitan A grade south division junior clashes

Under 18
Gippsland FC's good start to the season was slightly soured by a loss to Noble Park.

For the second time in three weeks the boys travelled to Norman Luth Reserve, Springvale and it was almost a case of dejavu on the park as well.

Gippsland dominated play in the first half and created a number of chances, going in at half-time two goals up after strikes by Keegan Grealy and newcomer Marcus Thompson.

The second half started with more of the same from the Gippsland boys, but a resilient Noble Park hit back in the 58th minute to make it 2-1.

Gippsland pushed forward again, creating numerous chances but could not find the back of the net.

Noble Park was resolute in defence and hard work paid off with two late goals to steal a 3-2 victory.

Gippsland FC will be looking to bounce back and regain top spot this weekend.

Under 15
Gippsland FC's under 15s shared the points in a 2-2 draw away to Clarinda Soccer Club.

Isaac Boulton scored the first goal of the match, which was answered by Clarinda shortly before half-time.

Gippsland dominated possession but missed some gettable chances while creating good passages of play.

Adonya Victor scored to put Gippsland back in front and it continued to look threatening.

Clarinda scored late in the second half against the run of play after a mix up in the Gippsland defence.

The last 10 minutes was a frenetic passage of play; Gippsland had several shots on goal but was unable to score the winner.

The Gippsland under 15 squad is looking for players to top up squad numbers.

Under 14
Gippsland FC scored a tough 1-0 win over Mornington, who sat above the visitors in fourth position on the ladder prior to the round.

Playing against a strong wind, the boys dominated the first 20 minutes and played some attractive football, keeping possession for long periods, however the final pass and poor decision making let them down.

The teams went into half-time locked in a 0-0 stalemate.

Midway through the second half Jesse Buhagiar dribbled past two Mornington defenders and was fouled by a third in the box.

Connor Dastey stepped up to take the penalty and put the Gippsland boys 1-0 in front.

Gippsland controlled the latter stages of the half however could not add to the tally and ran out deserved 1-0 winners.

Paddy Richardson, Toby Mullins and Tristan Donoghue all put in strong individual performances in an encouraging team display.

Under 13
Gippsland returned to the site of its first victory to take on the Glen Eira Eagles and conjured a 4-2 triumph.

The boys started well and showed no signs of being overwhelmed by the task at hand, as was the case in previous matches.

The hosts began quickly and applied pressure to the defence which held firm and were admirably led by keeper Ethan Farrell who had an outstanding game.

Gippsland played a high possession, quick tempo game but this week took advantage of its dominance and turned it into goals.

An excellent first half saw the visitor go in 3-1 up at half-time.

Glen Eira started the second half strongly and pulled an early goal back, but from that point Gippsland FC found another gear and outplayed its opponent.

Emmanuel Scarlett (2), Cory Johnson and Oscar Plenkovich were the Gippsland scorers in a whole team performance.

"This group is a highly skilled unit. Today every boy played their role and the tempo, strength and intelligent decision making of Gippsland FC was inspiring to watch and was by far their best performance of the season to date," coach Taner Tekin said.

The club returns to home base at Trafalgar this weekend across the grades.

The under 13s take on Peninsula Strikers at 11am and the under 14s are playing Sandringham SC at 12.15pm.

Endeavour United plays the under 15s at 1.30pm and the under 18s will seek to regain top spot in the league against Doveton SC at 3pm.
