The Rococo Bistro Noosa Tigers escaped a mini scare at the hands of a young and exuberant Moreton Bay last Saturday in Burpengary.
Trailing at the main break by 10 points, then holding a narrow 5 point 3 quarter time lead the Tiger faithful were becoming extremely nervous. Thoughts of dropping 3 games in a row were quickly extinguished in the final term as the Tigers booted 6 goals to 1 to run out 34 point victors.
Three final quarter goals by ex Afl star Beema Moloney certainly helped the cause as did the terrific blanketing job talented recruit Joel lambourn did on the Bugs key forward who was killing Noosa throughout the opening half.
In fact Lambourn again was adjudged Noosa best player whilst Fitzpatrick also continued his stellar season of form. Old man river Brett "Angel" Duke battled hard all day for the pretty lacklustre Tigers whilst youngster Jack Hunt confirmed to all that he is here to stay in the senior side with another strong showing.
Big Jarrod Wesall all booted 3 goals from centre half forward whilst coach Sam Faure chimed in with 2 once again.
Not a commanding performance by the Tigers in any way but a win nonetheless. A much fiercer and collective approach will be needed this Saturday at home as we take on defending back to back premiers in what will be a real test.
Noosa haven't lost three in a row at home for some time and I'm sure Sam Faure and his charges will make sure this won't be happening Saturday.
Great to see 3 time club champion Cubby Isles back running around and, of course, racking up touches in the twos last week as the tigers start to regain the services of some very handy footballers in the coming weeks.
See you all at this weeks Presidents lunch with special guest former Carlton and Richmond Hartman Ricky McLean who apparently has some great stories to tell.
