The Rococos Bistro Noosa Tigers lost their second home game in as many weeks last Saturday as the much improved Caloundra Panthers inflicted their first defeat on the tigers in 17 years.
In front of another big crowd, and on what seemed like a perfect day for footy, punters were treated too a pretty lowly skilled scrappy affair where goals were hard to come by along with memorable highlights. Skill errors from both sides were the story of the day as the arm wrestle was still anyone's game at 3 quarter time with the visitors holding a 7 point lead. And with the local side heading toward the Weyba Rd end with a slight breeze the big Noosa crowd were expecting a finishing onslaught. However it wasn't to be as Caloundra banged on 4 last quarter goals to Noosa's one to seal the game and move into outright second place on the QFA North ladder.
For the tigers you could no go past the effort of key defender Joel Lambourn who is having an outstanding year for his new club with more than solid week in week out performances . Ex Brisbane Lions Bushy Copeland and Beema Moloney tried everything within their powers to help the Tigers get over the line but unfortunately they had little help. Brett Duke battled manfully in the ruck whilst Fitzpatrick and Boardman, whilst not as prevalent as previous weeks ,never stopped trying. One big positive was the debut performance of young Jack Hunt whose surety with the ball and hardness at the contest made him one of Noosas best. Jacks father, Shane. was a fantastic leader and player for the Noosa side through the late 80s and 90s.
And footy aside without doubt the biggest positive of the day was the performance ambassador Sam Kekovich gave some 190 people in the club rooms as guest of our first presidents lunch for 2016. Hysterical and I'm sure will be talked about for some time.
Back to footy and a massive game for the Rococo Bistro Noosa Tigers who travel down the Bruce Highway to face an ever improving Moreton Bay in a must win situation. The competition is extremely close this season so if you're not on your game any given week look out .
Go Tigers. Cheers Pittsy
