We have a very busy weekend here at Aspley this weekend with all our Senior teams playing here both Saturday and Sunday.
Our NEAFL team will look to get back on... the winners list this weekend playing Brisbane Lions at Graham Road on Saturday at 2.00 pm.
Last weekend they had a tough game in Darwin playing NT Thunder, which was a replay of last year’s Grand Final when we went down by 1 point.
It was very hot and very steamy as a storm came through Darwin just before the game and it was about 34 degree which did not help the boys consequently they were beaten by NT Thunder.
It will be different this weekend with the boys at home.
We have Curtain Raiser to NEAFL and that is the QLD State U18s playing Western Jets (Victorian Based team) in the TAC Cup at 10.30 am. This should be a cracker of a game also.
Our QFA teams Reserves and Seniors both play Moreton Bay Lions on Sunday at Graham Road Aspley at 11.45 am and 2.00 pm looking for their first win of the season.
The U19 Colts will play the curtain raiser to these QFA games at 9.30 am against Labrador .
Our Masters teams have this weekend off.
I have been told that the 45s won convincingly last weekend. The longer the game went the further ahead they went. Well done boys. Sorry but not sure what happened with the 35s. Hopefully it was positive.
We had a very successful weekend last weekend with our 34 Juniors and Youth teams all taking to the field and at long last our youngsters finally got their game. Our Juniors had huge smiles all over their faces.
Our new batch of Junior Club Umpires did a fantastic job of Umpiring our U8s, U9s and U10s.
All our Youth Teams (U2 to U17) in Grading games performed well.
BUT the highlight last week was Friday night.
At Graham Road under lights our girls teams (Under 13s and Under 15s) played their very first game for Aspley in their new jumpers.
What a night. It went so well. The 13s won convincingly but the 15s were beaten.
They both travel to Calamvale this week on Friday night to play their games.
Congratulations girls we look forward to more game highlights from you.
That’s it for this week.
Go Hornets!!!!!!!!!!!!
