The Cats had a forfeit from the Swans last week and are short of match practice whilst the improving Roos were soundly beaten by The Inverell Saints in Inverell last weekend. The outcome of this game could decide the finishing order of the final five. The Cats are seasoned finals performers and will be hard to beat at home. The Roos are reportedly taking their top side to Muswellbrook this weekend and both teams play tough un-compromising football and this game will be a cracker. In a result that could go either way I'm tipping the Cats at home but and upset would not be surprising.
In the other big match of the weekend the un-defeated Saints play The Nomads in Armidale in a crunch game for the home team. The Nomads have failed to re-capture the early season form since their mid-season break and if they are going to have a say in this year's final series they will need to fire on all cylinders against the Saints. The Saints have struggled in Armidale over the past couple of seasons but they are in such good form it is hard to see The Nomads beating them today. I'm tipping the Saints in a comfortable win.
The third match of the round is the local derby between the Gunnedah Bulldogs and the Narrabri Eagles. The Bulldogs are still a rough chance of making fifth spot and with a near full strength side at home will be hard to beat. The Dogs have shown tremendous improvement in the second half of the season and will be keen to finish the home and away season strongly and, with a big win today and another home game in the last round against The Cats, they could still force their way into fifth spot. I'm tipping the Bulldogs in a big win which will put them within a sniff of the finals.
Disko's tips: The Cats, The Saints and the Bulldogs. The Swans have the bye.
Please Note: The Nomads v Saints game venue was switched mid year hence the Saints are travelling to Armidale on Saturday.
