What a great start to the season for the Mustangs Reserves and Senior sides, both recording resounding victories against the much more fancied Doncaster East boys on their home turf.
The day started with the Under 19s taking on Croydon at Croydon and unfortunately went down by a fair margin. Best were Delahoy, Jackson, Thompson, Daniell, Dolan & Craig. At Zerbes Reserve the reserves got the jump on Donny East in the first term and never looked back, the final margin being 59 points. Sam Downie snagged 3 goals while Grant Morris got the nod for BOG. Others to show out were Taylor, McCrimmon, Cook, Hands & Dymond.
After Donny East kicked the first 3 goals of the senior game things didn’t look too good but from that moment on the Mustangs completely dominated the game and if they had kicked straighter the 64 point margin would have been far greater. Our boys applied relentless pressure and didn’t allow the opposition an easy possession all game. Jai Jordan top scored with 4 goals while the skipper, Michael Smith, earned BOG (and took one of the most spectacular you’ll ever see in local footy). Others in the best were Sutherland, Hassan, Jordan, Neumann & Treeby.
This week we host local rivals Lilydale who have returned to 2nd Division so it should be a great contest.
