Gippsland FC - Newsletter - Feb 2016

Dear Parents, Players & Supporters,

Welcome to the exciting year ahead for our new club, Gippsland FC. Firstly, an apology for the long break between communications but it has been fairly hectic behind the scenes as all the administrative tasks are sorted out. Thankfully, that’s something the players do not have to worry about and most teams should be back into the full routine of training by the end of the month. Secondly, we hope you will embrace our new club logo.

This message is to give a bit of background about what has been happening in the interim period.

Committee

The first Gippsland FC Committee were formed in December, 2015 and is comprised of the following members:

David Wilson                      Chairman

Chris Van Lambaart            Vice Chairman

Ian Murphy                        Secretary

Domenic Zappia                  Treasurer

Alan Stewart                      Committee Member

Glen McLeod                      Committee Member

Martin Luders                     Committee Member

Tanner Tekin                      Committee Member

Tristan Zimora                   Committee Member

The Committee have held two meetings so far and are working through the many issues a new entity faces when establishing themselves.

Volunteers

Obviously, the basis of any flourishing club is a strong volunteer network; this is especially relevant to a club like ourselves who are finding our feet. All Committee members are volunteers and are looking after various areas of the club like media, book-keeping, purchasing etc.

These roles are only the tip of the iceberg. Other jobs such as team managers, first aid, and lines-people are important to the on-field activities of the club but off-field roles are equally vital. The areas of fundraising and sponsorship are ones that especially important to our new club and if you could assist in that area we want to hear from you.

If you could volunteer you time/skills/expertise to the advancement of Gippsland FC, that would be greatly appreciated by the committee and the players. If you think you could help with any of the above or have your own ideas about how the club can be run as efficiently as possible/raise funds for operational requirements, please contact Martin Luders on 0412340972 and have a chat.

The development and nurturing of our girls squad is a major part of our clubs philosophy. At the moment we are actively seeking a coach for our squad and hope to have that announced in the near future aions rolled out soon after.

Communication

Due to the huge undertaking of establishing a new club the communication has taken a bit of a back seat. However, the committee’s fervent wish is that once the club finds it feet, communication will be more frequent and appropriate. Some individual teams have already set up their own FB pages but we are definitely open to utilising as many forms of communication that are necessary. We do not hold that communication should be top-down. We want all people who have ties with Gippsland FC to truly feel a valued part of what we are all trying to achieve.

PS If you have the skills to covert the information the words in this letter into a ‘newsletter’ type set out please contact Alan Stewart at emcaljoe@gmail.com. You can also share any stories you would like included or ‘column’ ideas to the same email address.

Season 2016

It is not clear at this stage which level each team will be competing at. As soon as this information becomes available you will be notified. Obviously, being a brand new club the year ahead is very exciting but also daunting at the same time. Our hope is that as a collective we can work together, sharing the load to make the debut season of Gippsland a memorable one which we can use to build a positive future.

Yours in football
