For those of you who don't know me, my name’s Paul O'Toole and I have been nominated by the club as their new Head of Football and club Vice President for the upcoming season.
The club has created a new position in setting up a Director Of Coaching role to help further develop the skills of both the coaches and players at all levels. Peter Clements, who is a life member of the club and past coach was initially appointed to fill this role but unfortunately, due to work and family commitments, Peter has had to step down from this role.
In finding a suitable replacement for Peter, the club has appointed Sam Calogero who has also coached for a number of years at the club in the past. Sam has an extensive knowledge of the game from the grassroots level at Auskick through to the TAC pathway programme.
Sam is also planning to prepare a new coaching manual to assist our coaches at all levels as well as attending training sessions and moving around from game to game throughout the season to view first-hand how things are going.
Sam, along with myself and the members of the Football Department are all there provide any assistance that the coaches may need and we have also updated our resources page on the club website with the AFL coach assist app which has an extensive library of skills, training drills and other value information to use throughout the season ahead.
Sam is planning to have a pre-season coaches information night so that everyone can meet and greet each other and discuss our plans and goals for the season ahead. We will also be conducting a midyear get-together to discuss the year-to-date.
It shapes up to be a very exciting 60th anniversary season for the club and I thank you all for your valuable contribution. Cheers and all the very best for the season ahead. I look forward to meeting with you all soon.
